Job Summary
This role offers a dynamic blend of strategic problem-solving and hands-on execution. We are seeking an adaptable and fast learner who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can transition effectively between analytical thinking and practical tasks. The ideal candidate remains composed under pressure and views challenges as opportunities for growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Fitting & Assembly: Perform disassembly and assembly of components according to specified sequences. Take precise measurements and record data in check sheets.
- Diagnostics & Inspection: Conduct initial evaluations of failed spindles, including vibration analysis, runout measurements, and assessment of bearing conditions.
- Teardown & Cleaning: Carefully dismantle mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic spindle components. Clean and degrease parts using ultrasonic cleaners or specialized solvents.
- Precision Repair: Replace high-precision bearings (ceramic or steel), seals, and O-rings. Carry out light machining or grinding to restore components to OEM specifications.
- Assembly: Reassemble spindles in a controlled assembly environment, ensuring proper alignment and correct pre-loading of bearings.
- Testing & Balancing: Perform dynamic balancing of rotating components. Conduct break-in cycles while monitoring temperature, vibration, and noise levels.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate service reports, including measurements, tolerances, and final test results in accordance with check sheets.
Requirements
- Technical Expertise: Understanding of high-speed rotating equipment and precision tolerances (micron-level measurements).
- Tool Proficiency: Skilled in using micrometers, Vernier calipers, dial indicators, bore gauges, and torque wrenches. Experience with hydraulic presses and induction heaters is an advantage.
- Blueprint Reading: Ability to interpret technical drawings, assembly diagrams, hand sketches, and OEM manuals.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical mindset to identify root causes of component failure (e.g., contamination, insufficient lubrication, or operational damage).
- Education: ITE or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
- Experience: At least 2 years of experience in assembly or fitting work. Basic knowledge of CNC machines is an added advantage.
