Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform incoming, in-process and final inspections of transformer tanks and related fabricated components.
- Conduct visual and dimensional checks against approved engineering drawings.
- Inspect weld locations, sizes and workmanship for defects such as cracks, undercut, porosity, incomplete welds and excessive spatter.
- Check fabrication quality, including deformation, distortion, alignment, finishing and the correct installation of accessories.
- Support or witness leak and tightness testing, where required.
- Inspect surface preparation and paint or coating quality for coverage, finish and defects.
- Record non-conformities and coordinate with Production and Engineering on corrective actions.
- Re-inspect repaired or rectified items to confirm compliance.
- Prepare and maintain inspection reports, checklists, dimensional records and traceability documentation.
- Ensure all inspections comply with established procedures, drawings and specifications.
- Perform other quality-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience:
- NITEC, Higher NITEC or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Relevant experience in transformer tanks, metal fabrication, structural steel, welding inspection or manufacturing QC is preferred.
- Able to read and interpret engineering and fabrication drawings.
- Basic knowledge of welding processes, defects and fabrication workmanship.
- Familiar with measuring tools such as measuring tapes, vernier calipers, micrometers and height gauges.
- Knowledge of leak testing and paint or coating inspection is an advantage.
- Able to prepare basic inspection reports and quality documentation.
- Detail-oriented and able to communicate effectively with Production, Engineering and other relevant teams.
