Purchaser (Tankers)

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end procurement of spare parts, stores, lubricants, and services for assigned tanker vessels (Crude, Product, Chemical or LPG).
• Source, evaluate, and negotiate with approved marine suppliers globally to ensure cost competitiveness and timely delivery.
• Review and process purchase requisitions raised by vessels, ensuring technical specifications and maker references are accurate.
• Obtain competitive quotations, conduct commercial comparisons, and prepare purchase orders in accordance with company procurement procedures.
• Liaise closely with Technical Superintendents and vessel crew to clarify specifications and urgency of requirements.
• Coordinate with logistics providers to ensure timely shipment and delivery to ports worldwide, considering trading routes of tankers.
• Monitor delivery status and follow up on outstanding orders to prevent operational downtime.
• Maintain and update supplier database, pricing benchmarks, and procurement records within the purchasing system (e.g., AMOS, ShipServ, or similar).
• Ensure compliance with company policies, ISM, ISPS, OCIMF and vetting requirements relevant to tanker operations.
• Analyze procurement trends and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising safety or quality standards.

Requirements

• Diploma in Maritime Studies, Marine Engineering, Supply Chain, or related discipline.
• Minimum 2-5 years of purchasing experience in shipping, preferably handling tanker vessels.
• Strong knowledge of marine spare parts, technical consumables, and tanker-specific equipment (cargo pumps, IG systems, etc.).
• Good negotiation skills with commercial awareness and ability to manage multiple vessels simultaneously.
• Familiarity with marine procurement software (e.g., AMOS, ShipServ) and strong communication skills.
