Purchaser (Container Vessels)

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end procurement of technical stores, spares, consumables, and services for assigned container vessels.
• Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to secure competitive pricing, quality, and delivery timelines in compliance with procurement policies.
• Review and process requisitions from vessels via procurement systems (e.g., AMOS, ShipServ, or equivalent platforms).
• Issue RFQs, analyze quotations, conduct commercial comparisons, and prepare recommendation summaries for approval.
• Coordinate logistics for delivery of spares and stores to vessels worldwide, ensuring timely supply aligned with port calls and operational schedules.
• Monitor budget utilization per vessel and ensure purchases are within approved technical budgets.
• Maintain and develop vendor relationships, including performance evaluation on pricing, quality, and delivery reliability.
• Ensure compliance with class, flag state, and internal QHSE requirements when sourcing critical components.
• Work closely with Technical Superintendents, Fleet Managers, and Finance teams to resolve procurement and invoice discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate procurement records, update ERP systems, and support internal/external audits.

Requirements

• Diploma in Marine Engineering, Maritime Studies, Supply Chain Management, or related discipline.
• Minimum 3-5 years of purchasing experience in shipping, preferably handling container vessels.
• Familiarity with marine procurement systems (e.g., AMOS, ShipServ) and technical vessel components.
• Strong negotiation, analytical, and cost-control skills with ability to work under tight deadlines.
• Good understanding of vessel operations, dry-docking support, and global logistics coordination.
