Google will be prioritizing applicants who have a current right to work in Singapore, and do not require Google's sponsorship of a visa.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of experience in public affairs, government relations, or policy advocacy, specifically within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) or South Asian governing ecosystems.
  • 7 years of experience working within government, think tanks, public interest groups, technology industry groups, or corporate public policy organizations.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Singapore and Southeast Asia digital economy policy, Southeast Asia tech regulatory landscape, and the unique political dynamics of frontier markets.
  • Proven ability to translate complex research into emotionally resonant content and visual assets (infographics, video) that shift regional narratives.
  • Ability to manage high-stakes, fast-moving programs and anticipate future policy impacts in a rapidly evolving regulatory landscape.

About The Job

As a member of Google's Government Affairs and Public Policy team, you'll be part of a global government affairs team, working across regions, product areas, and functions. You'll combine creativity and intellectual excellence with the organizational skills to manage various campaigns, projects and initiatives. In this role, you'll advocate for Google to bring external perspectives back into the company to inform our perception and direction. You're passionate about the opportunity to shape the future of how we use and build technology for everyone.

The Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) APAC Public Affairs team is the tip of the spear, serving as the strategic engine for reputation and trust across a complex region. We play offense by deploying strategic narratives and engagement strategies that proactively define the policy conversation. As the connective tissue between local markets and global strategy, we inform business velocity by linking policy to business decisions. Rejecting copy and paste methods, we prioritize cultural fluency and message versioning, using trusted carriers to reach stakeholders where they are with emotionally resonant content tailored to local nuances. By elevating executive engagement, we learn visual storytelling to build Key Opinion Former (KOF) trust. We operate with an experimental mindset, taking calculated risks with AI and innovation to solve ambiguous issues. We ensure Google's value is demonstrated creatively and consistently across the APAC business and policy ecosystem.

As a core member of the GAPP Public Affairs team, you will act as a strategic lead for Google's reputation and policy impact within the Southeast Asia and South Asia frontier ecosystem. You'll take on additional country assignments as required.

Google takes its responsibilities seriously, including engaging with government and other stakeholders on important public policy challenges. The Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) team leads the company's engagement with executive branch officials, legislators, regulators and third-parties in the formation of public policy. Working closely with Google leaders, GAPP seeks to identify key policy issues, listen carefully to others views and opinions, and distill and share the company's perspective on those issues with external stakeholders. While we focus on challenges affecting the internet, our issue areas are increasingly broad and encompass many areas where public policy, business, and technology intersect.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the development and execution of strategic public affairs direction in Singapore, Southeast Asia and South Asia frontier markets, owning end-to-end workstreams for high-priority policy programs and advocacy campaigns to advocate for interoperable, pro-innovation governance.
  • Achieve GAPP objectives through seamless cross-functional collaboration with marketing, communications, and Google organization to amplify our impact.
  • Align local priorities with global strategic investments, providing the data-driven insights needed to guide resource allocation and shape long-term goals. Represent the region in key cross-functional forums, ensuring that strategy is grounded in credible external policy dynamics and research insights.
  • Craft strategic messaging and high-impact content for executive engagements and public platforms, elevating Google's presence at forums, workshops, and summits.
  • Manage complex and ambiguous programs by streamlining processes, organizing tasks into actionable goals, and defining messaging efficacy to inform the overall strategy.
