What The Role Is

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) plays a critical role in keeping Singapore safe and secure with our mission to prevent, deter and detect crime. Within the SPF, the Police Psychological Services Department (PPSD) plays an important role in supporting the organisational and operational needs of SPF.

The Psychologist (Operations Psychology Group) will be part of the Operational Resilience Psychology Division (ORPD) in PPSD, SPF. The role focuses on providing operations psychology support to frontline and specialist units, enhancing psychological readiness, operational decision-making, and officer wellbeing. The Psychologist will work closely with commanders, operational units, and internal stakeholders, and contribute to force-wide psychological capability development and resilience initiatives.

You will be placed under the Home Team Specialist Scheme.

What You Will Be Working On

As a Psychologist (Operations Psychology Group) in the ORPD in PPSD, your key roles and responsibilities include:

  • Enhances officers operational resilience, psychological readiness, and performance using evidence-based psychological principles
  • Facilitates morale management efforts at unit and organisational levels
  • Develops and delivers psychological resilience and mental readiness training for officers, leaders, and specialist units
  • Provides psychological consultation and support to stakeholders on morale, wellbeing, and operational resilience
  • Conducts counselling sessions and provides crisis support
  • Involves in suicide prevention, detection and intervention efforts
  • Supports in force-wide resilience efforts and other core PPSD functions

What We Are Looking For

  • Field of studies in Psychology or other relevant fields
  • Work experiences in psychology or related behavioural sciences will be advantageous
  • Familiarity with the Home Team context will be preferred
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in the use of statistical software
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
