Job Summary

We are seeking a technically driven Protection & Control Systems Engineer to join our power engineering team and support critical HV/MV substation projects.

The successful candidate will be involved in the design, implementation, testing and commissioning of protection and control systems that safeguard critical electrical infrastructure, including transformers, switchgear, cables and other high-voltage equipment.

This is an excellent opportunity for an Electrical Engineer looking to build or further develop expertise in power systems, protection relays, substation automation, control systems and HV electrical projects.

Key Responsibilities

Design, engineer and implement electrical protection and control systems for HV/MV substations and power infrastructure.
Work with protection relays, IEDs, RTUs, control panels, circuit breakers and disconnectors.
Develop and review single-line diagrams, protection schemes, control logic, wiring diagrams and technical documentation.
Configure and integrate protection relays, IEDs, RTUs and substation communication systems.
Support the integration of protection and control systems with SCADA and substation automation systems.
Carry out testing, troubleshooting, commissioning and system integration of protection and control equipment.
Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), protection testing and site commissioning.
Perform functional checks on circuit breakers, disconnectors, interlocking systems and control circuits.
Assist in identifying and resolving protection, control, communication and equipment-related issues.
Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers and site teams to ensure projects are delivered according to technical requirements and schedules.
Prepare and maintain engineering reports, test records, commissioning documentation and project deliverables.
Support site activities including installation, testing, commissioning and integration with existing electrical infrastructure.
Ensure all engineering and site activities comply with applicable electrical, safety and project requirements.

Requirements

Degree/Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering or a related discipline.
Experience in electrical protection, control systems, substation automation or power system projects.
Experience with HV/MV switchgear, transformers, protection relays or substation equipment will be highly advantageous.
Familiarity with IEDs, RTUs, SCADA and electrical communication systems.
Knowledge of protection schemes, control logic, electrical drawings and single-line diagrams.
Experience in testing, commissioning, troubleshooting or site engineering is preferred.
Knowledge of IEC 61850, relay testing or secondary injection testing will be an advantage.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Able to work independently as well as coordinate effectively with project and site teams.
Willingness to travel to project sites and support commissioning activities when required.
