Job Description

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced MEP Construction Director to lead site delivery on major projects in Singapore, providing technical oversight, contractor governance, and client-facing leadership. This is a critical role within our Building Services business, responsible for ensuring quality, programme certainty, and successful construction delivery.

As the MEP Site Director/Project Construction Director, will be leading a team of 15-20 Beca staff providing technical QA oversight and progress tracking of the Contractors MEP works. They report to the Beca Project Director and are ultimately responsible for maintaining comprehensive supervision of the Contractors technical work, identifying any technical deviations and their resolutions, and tracking progress against the Contractors schedule. They will be full time on site working a 5 ½ day week. They will meet regularly with the Client's Project Management team to report on work status and help manage technical construction delivery challenges. Together with an Administration staff member and Senior Resident Engineers they will oversee site administrative matters and site staff duties including record keeping, organising overtime and leaving applications to suit the project's resourcing needs.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced MEP Construction Director to be ready to step into a broader role that combines technical excellence, project leadership and client engagement. This position will be based on our project site office and reporting to Job Director.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible to:

  • Lead and manage the delivery of MEP consultancy services for major and complex projects.
  • Provide technical leadership, review, and oversight to ensure engineering quality, compliance, and coordination across all MEP disciplines.
  • Guide multidisciplinary teams to deliver project outcomes in accordance with agreed scope, programme, budget, and quality objectives.
  • Monitor project progress, identify technical risks and issues, and drive timely resolution in collaboration with clients, contractors, and project teams.
  • Support the development and implementation of project delivery plans, technical review processes, and quality assurance procedures.
  • Contribute to constructability, safety, operational, and maintainability reviews during design development and delivery.
  • Provide technical input during procurement activities, including consultant/contractor engagement, tender review, and contract administration support.
  • Advise on technical and commercial matters, helping to manage project risks and minimise potential disputes or claims.
  • Maintain effective coordination between design teams, client representatives, site teams, and other project stakeholders.
  • Support construction phase services as required, including review of contractor submissions, responses to technical queries, and site-based coordination.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through responsive service, trusted technical advice, and a clear understanding of client needs.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and internal teams on project status, risks, timelines, and key decisions.
  • Mentor and support team members, promoting technical excellence, collaboration, and professional development.
  • Contribute to business growth through client engagement, repeat work opportunities, and participation in industry and professional networks.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards, statutory requirements, quality systems, health and safety obligations, and professional ethics.
  • Promote and uphold company values, systems, and policies at all times.
  • Undertake other duties appropriate to the role as required.

Key Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Building Services, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Professional registration, chartership or membership of a relevant professional institution preferred.
  • Significant experience in MEP engineering, design management, or project delivery within a consultancy environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in applying engineering principles and industry best practice across complex building or infrastructure projects.
  • Proven leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams and coordinating stakeholders across project phases.
  • Strong commercial, contractual, and risk management awareness.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and high standards of professional conduct.
