Job Description

We are seeking a Project Manager to oversee and manage vessel newbuilding projects involving shipyards and stakeholders based in China. The successful candidate will be responsible for project coordination, schedule monitoring, contractual compliance, and stakeholder engagement from contract signing through vessel delivery.

This role requires regular communication with shipyards and suppliers in China. Proficiency in Mandarin is required to effectively conduct technical discussions and review documentation issued in Mandarin.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee vessel newbuilding projects to ensure delivery in accordance with contractual specifications, budget and timeline.

  • Coordinate with shipyards, designers, classification societies, equipment suppliers and owners on project execution matters.

  • Monitor construction schedules, production milestones and progress updates.

  • Review technical specifications, drawings, change orders and contractual documentation.

  • Identify project risks and implement mitigation measures to minimise delays and cost overruns.

  • Prepare periodic project reports including progress status, risk assessment and forecast updates.

  • Attend technical meetings, yard inspections, sea trials and vessel delivery processes when required.

  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and quality standards.

  • Maintain professional working relationships with key project stakeholders.

  • Provide updates and recommendations to management on project developments.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Degree in Marine Engineering, Maritime Studies, or related discipline.

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in shipbuilding, marine project management, or related industry.

  • Working knowledge of shipbuilding processes and project lifecycle management.

  • Strong coordination, problem-solving and communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

  • Willingness to travel overseas when required.

Language Requirement

Proficiency in written and spoken Mandarin is required to liaise with Mandarin-speaking shipyards, suppliers and stakeholders based in China, and to review technical documentation issued in Mandarin.

Proficiency in English is required for reporting and internal coordination.
