Job Description
Job Responsibilities
- Report directly to the Director and take overall responsibility for the successful delivery of construction projects, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.
- Manage and oversee the full project lifecycle, including project planning, mobilisation, site operations, construction activities, coordination, progress monitoring, testing and handover.
- Lead and manage project teams, including Project Engineers, Site Engineers, QS, Safety personnel, subcontractors and other site staff, to ensure smooth project execution.
- Oversee general building works, including structural, architectural, M&E coordination and other associated construction activities for projects such as factories, dormitories and private sector developments.
- Develop and monitor project schedules, construction programmes and milestones, and ensure timely completion of project works.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential delays and risks, and implement appropriate corrective and recovery measures.
- Ensure all construction works comply with approved drawings, specifications, contract requirements, quality standards and relevant Singapore statutory requirements.
- Ensure strict compliance with Workplace Safety and Health (WSH), HSE and environmental requirements, and promote a strong safety culture across the project team and subcontractors.
- Coordinate closely with clients, consultants, architects, professional engineers, authorities, subcontractors and suppliers to resolve technical and project-related issues.
- Monitor project costs, budgets, variations, claims and resource allocation to ensure effective cost control and project profitability.
- Work closely with the QS and commercial team on contract administration, variation orders, progress claims, subcontractor management and cost control.
- Review and coordinate procurement requirements, construction materials, manpower, plant and equipment to support timely project execution.
- Attend regular project meetings and provide management with updates on project progress, costs, manpower, safety, quality, risks and key issues.
- Assist the Director in tender preparation, project planning, contract negotiations and pre-construction activities when required.
- Ensure proper project documentation, records and reporting are maintained throughout the project.
- Carry out any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Building or a related discipline.
- Minimum 8-10 years of relevant experience in the Singapore construction industry, preferably with a main contractor.
- Proven experience in managing General Building projects, preferably involving factory, dormitory, industrial or private sector developments.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, project planning, site coordination, contract administration, quality control and WSH requirements.
- Proven ability to lead and manage multidisciplinary project teams and subcontractors.
- Strong understanding of project scheduling, cost control, manpower planning and resource management.
- Good communication, coordination, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
- Able to work independently, make timely decisions and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to work effectively with clients, consultants, authorities and subcontractors.
- Relevant Singapore construction experience and knowledge of local statutory and regulatory requirements will be an advantage.
