Job Description
- Prepare piping/ structural material specifications, prepare MTOs C/w end connection fitting details, male connectors, JIC NPT etc for Piping systems.
- Perform detail engineering and design of new piping installation on board Drilling rigs.
- Generate/ review detail piping & structural drawings for submission to Classification Society for approval and for production/installation on board.
- Evaluate/ review Structural Analysis, Loading Calculations, pressure drop/ friction loss calculation and drawings.
- Lead the engineering department in delivering structural, piping, and mechanical design solutions for offshore and marine projects.
- Review and approve engineering drawings, fabrication drawings, and technical calculations.
- Oversee structural design, reinforcement, and modification works for offshore rigs, platforms, and marine structures.
- Review steel fabrication drawings, load calculations, and structural repair methodologies.
- Ensure compliance with relevant classification society rules such as American Bureau of Shipping, DNV, and Bureau Veritas.
- Supervise piping layout development, spool drawings, and isometric generation.
- Ensure proper review of piping stress considerations, material specifications, and fabrication details.
- Support installation and modification works for process, hydraulic, and utility piping systems.
- Lead the preparation and review of 2D engineering drawings and fabrication layouts using AutoCAD.
- Ensure accuracy and compliance of GA drawings, shop drawings, and as-built documentation.
- Guide teams to produce clear and fabrication-ready drawings.
- Provide technical input for tender proposals, cost estimation, and engineering feasibility studies.
- Participate in client technical meetings and engineering clarifications.
- Support engineering solutions for urgent offshore repairs and afloat projects.
- Ensure proper preparation and submission of engineering calculations, technical reports, and method statements.
- Maintain document control for engineering deliverables and revision tracking.
- Respond to classification comment to expedite design approval.
- Prepare piping and pump specifications inclusive of specifications for piping arrangement, piping support standards.
- Prepare equipment layouts and assist in drafting yard layout plans.
- Study scope of work, overall project schedule, basic design data, client specifications, drawings and plot plan.
- Plan and work along with design subcontractors/ vendors for accurate delivery schedule and update project team to communicate to customer. Update commercial and construction team when MTO is completed for initiating procurement.
- Communicate and liaise with customers, principals and other involved parties procurement staffs during projects execution till completion of the project to facilitate and completion of the services to meet client's requirement and satisfaction.
- Effectively deal with clients, class and vendors. Familiar with International rules and standards like ASME, API, etc.
- Prepare Day to day reports & update project master schedule with engineering progress.
- Prepare Engineering meeting minutes and disseminate every week to all personals related to the assigned project.
- Any other tasks as and when assigned by management.
Job Specification
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Rig Construction & Shipyard experience with Diploma or Degree in Mechanical or Equivalent.
- Skills in Design and Engineering of Piping systems preferred.
- Experience in making piping design calculation like pipe sizing, wall thickness, pressure drop, pump head, air receiver, deluge firefighting system capacity, inert gas system capacity study would be an added advantage.
- Experience in preparation of P & ID for piping systems.
- Experience in preparation and review of piping layout, manage to update drawings and deliverables.
