Job Description

Job Title: Project Engineer - Bored Piling

Department: Projects / Operations
Reports to: Project Manager

Job Summary

The Project Engineer will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising bored piling and foundation works. The role requires close coordination with clients, consultants, main contractors, subcontractors, and site teams to ensure that projects are completed safely, on schedule, and according to approved drawings and specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and monitor daily bored piling and foundation activities
  • Supervise site operations, including boring, casing installation, reinforcement cage installation, concreting, and pile testing
  • Review construction drawings, pile schedules, specifications, method statements, and soil investigation reports
  • Prepare work programmes, method statements, risk assessments, technical submissions, and progress reports
  • Coordinate with clients, consultants, main contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and relevant authorities on project and technical matters
  • Monitor project progress, manpower, machinery, materials, and equipment requirements
  • Ensure works are carried out according to approved drawings, specifications, method statements, quality standards, and safety requirements
  • Maintain accurate piling records, including borehole depths, founding levels, pile lengths, concrete volumes, reinforcement details, and as-built records
  • Identify and resolve technical issues, site constraints, underground obstructions, and discrepancies between actual and design ground conditions
  • Coordinate site inspections, testing, and approvals, including pile integrity tests and load tests
  • Attend project and site meetings and follow up on outstanding technical, safety, and operational matters
  • Coordinate with the commercial team on completed quantities, variation works, progress claims, and supporting documentation
  • Monitor and manage subcontractors to ensure compliance with project requirements
  • Assist the Project Manager in project planning, cost control, scheduling, and overall project delivery
  • Perform other project-related duties assigned by the Project Manager

Requirements

Education

  • Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related discipline

Experience

  • Minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience in project or site engineering within the construction industry
  • Experience in bored piling, foundation, geotechnical, or civil and structural works is preferred
  • Candidates with strong civil construction experience and a willingness to learn bored piling operations may also be considered

Technical Skills

  • Good understanding of bored piling construction methods, equipment, and work sequences
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, pile schedules, specifications, method statements, and soil investigation reports
  • Knowledge of pile installation records, concrete records, reinforcement details, pile testing, and as-built documentation
  • Familiarity with Singapore construction practices, quality standards, and workplace safety requirements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Project or other scheduling software is an advantage
  • Knowledge of Building and Construction Authority requirements and relevant Singapore standards is an advantage

Soft Skills

  • Strong planning, coordination, and problem-solving abilities
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills for liaising with clients, consultants, main contractors, subcontractors, and site teams
  • Able to work independently and manage multiple site activities
  • Detail-oriented and capable of maintaining accurate technical and project records
  • Able to work under pressure and meet tight project deadlines
  • Responsible, proactive, and willing to work in a site-based environment

Other Requirements

  • Willing to travel between project sites within Singapore
  • Willing to work outside normal working hours when required by project operations
  • Possession of a valid Singapore Class 3 driving licence is an advantage
