Our Client is an established Japanese Company which produces and sells polyvinyl alcohol resin and related chemicals. Project Engineer (Mechanical) is responsible for managing engineering projects with a strong understanding of condensation processes and hands-on experience in simple facilities design.
Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee Mechanical Engineering projects from basic to detail engineering through commissioning and completion, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and in compliance with quality standards.
- Review project requirements, contractor specifications, and drawings in collaboration with the project team.
- Develop and implement project execution plans, resource allocation strategies, and risk management frameworks.
- Serve as the on-site engineering liaison between contractors and the internal project team, ensuring effective control of construction activities, including site safety, supervision, and safe work permit coordination.
- Address technical issues arising during construction and ensure significant matters are formally resolved with input from contractors and the internal team.
- Report to the Project Manager and coordinate closely with other discipline engineers to ensure seamless integration across disciplines.
- Ensure all engineering activities comply with project requirements and specifications.
- Review variation orders and provide recommendations for resolution.
- Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams, including project management, engineers, consultants, contractors, and vendors.
- Collaborate with stakeholders such as consultants, contractors, vendors, and internal teams to ensure project alignment.
- Conduct vendor workshops and/or site inspections to monitor progress and identify potential issues.
- Prepare and review project documentation, including status updates, budget reports, and technical reports.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, implementing contingency plans where necessary.
- Promote effective communication and collaboration among team members and stakeholders.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Manager.
Requirements & Preferences
(Must)
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical project engineering for EPC projects in chemical process plants.
- Proven track record in managing projects across all phases: detail engineering, construction, commissioning, start-up, and handover.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, industry codes (ASME, API, TEMA), and both local (Singapore Standards of Practice) and international standards.
- Proficient in project management software such as MS Project or equivalent.
- Proficient in digital tools for data collection, analysis, and visualization (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Power BI, SQL).
- Willingness to work beyond normal office hours when required.
- Flexible to take up overseas assignments when required (up to 2-3 years, subject to internal assessment and opportunity)
