Role Summary
The Project Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing IT infrastructure and hardware deployment projects across retail and F&B environments. This role ensures that all project tasks, including site surveys, installation, testing, and handover are completed on time, within scope, and in adherence to I-Innova's quality and safety standards. Deployment activities may take place during non-business hours.
Key Responsibilities
Project Implementation & Coordination
- Perform end-to-end deployment of IT hardware (POS, KVS, servers, network devices, payment terminals, CCTV, digital displays, PCs, Notebooks, etc.).
- Execute installation, configuration, cabling, and testing work during night hours (after store closing) and on weekends, depending on customer requirements.
- Work closely with internal teams, vendors, and customers to ensure smooth rollout and timely issue resolution.
- Identify and escalate site issues, risks, and dependencies promptly.
Technical Support
- Provide L2 onsite and remote support during deployment
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues during and after installation.
- Assist with diagnosing complex incidents and applying corrective actions.
- Support UAT, pilot runs, and system go-live activities.
Documentation & Reporting
- Complete deployment checklists, sign-off forms, and daily progress reports.
- Update asset lists, network diagrams, and configuration documents.
- Submit accurate documentation in line with project timelines and customer requirements.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all work meets client's quality standards, installation SOPs, and workplace safety requirements.
- Follow customer-specific access, housekeeping, and security protocols
Stakeholder Communication
- Coordinate closely with the Project Manager or Service Delivery Manager on schedules and resources.
- Provide clear and timely updates to customers, store managers, and internal teams.
- Support deployment briefings, readiness discussions, and escalation management.
Requirements
Academic & Professional
- Diploma in IT, Computer Engineering, Network Engineering, or equivalent.
- Professional certifications are advantageous.
Technical Skills
- Hands-on experience with:
- POS/KVS systems
- Network devices (routers, switches, APs) and cabling
- Servers, PCs, and peripherals
- Windows OS Linux knowledge is a plus
- Ability to interpret network diagrams and floor plans is an advantage.
Soft Skills
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Team player with a positive learning attitude.
- Other Requirements
- Willing to work night shifts (after store closing) and weekends for deployment activities.
- Able to handle physical tasks such as carrying equipment and working in tight retail/store environments.
- Possession of a valid Class 3 license is an advantage.
- Willing to travel island-wide for site deployments.
