Job Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated and dynamic Project Engineer Associate to join our growing team. This role plays a vital part in driving business development, conducting market research and competitor analysis, performing due diligence on innovative technologies and intellectual property, and supporting project management to bring Kajima's innovations to market.
This position offers a unique greenfield opportunity to build and shape the organization from inception, working closely with the Managing Director. It is ideal for someone with strong commercial instincts, project management skills, and the ability to engage clients and generate leads effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Management
- Lead and coordinate cross-functional projects from inception through execution, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business goals.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to drive project milestones.
- Manage documentation, reporting, and communication for projects.
Innovation
- Collaborate with research labs to identify innovative technologies with commercial potential. Develop go-to-market strategies to translate these technologies into viable commercial solutions.
- Define the unique value proposition for new deep tech solutions and develop marketing strategies to effectively communicate this to target audiences.
- Engage with external stakeholders to gather feedback and refine product offerings and to better ascertain market demand.
Market Research & Competitive Analysis
- Conduct comprehensive research on industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging opportunities. Develop detailed reports and market intelligence to inform strategic decision-making and identify new business opportunities.
- Evaluate potential investment opportunities by analysing market demand, competitive dynamics, and technological advancements. Provide in-depth analysis and strategic recommendations to the Managing Director.
- Collect and interpret complex data sets to identify market patterns and insights. Utilize quantitative and qualitative analysis techniques to derive actionable business strategies.
Project Viability Assessment
- Perform comprehensive due diligence on technologies, intellectual property, and service offerings to evaluate commercial viability and market readiness.
- Identify risks and success factors, and propose mitigation strategies.
- Monitor ongoing projects, track progress, and provide regular updates to senior management.
Business Development & Client Engagement
- Identify, generate, and pursue new business leads and partnership opportunities.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and stakeholders through clear, persuasive communication and pitching.
- Drive commercial strategy development aligned with company's growth objectives.
- Assist in drafting, negotiating, and finalizing commercial agreements. Ensure contracts are structured to maximize value and comply with legal standards while safeguarding the company's interests.
Financial & Strategic Reporting
- Support the creation of financial models and business cases to evaluate new ventures and partnerships.
- Prepare clear, actionable reports and presentations for the Managing Director and stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in any discipline (Engineering preferred)
- Project management experience is required ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously and deliver results on time.
- Project execution in new product introduction and/or process operation and optimization.
- A technical background, research experience, or entrepreneurial experience is a plus, but not required
- Energetic and enthusiastic about startups, venture building, venture capital, consultancy, or tech-related companies landscape is a strong advantage.
- Proven ability to drive business development and generate leads independently.
- Strong project management skills with an ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills confident in pitching ideas and engaging clients and partners.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to conduct thorough market research and due diligence.
- Commercially savvy with a strategic outlook and ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, fast-paced environments.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated.
