The Project & Electrical Engineer will be responsible for providing technical expertise in the design, integration, and deployment of energy storage systems, including battery storage, microgrids, and related infrastructure. This role requires close collaboration with the Business Development team to develop technical proposals to ensure successful execution of deployments.
Technical Business Development Support
- Partner with the BD team to evaluate customer requirements and propose tailored technical solutions.
- Develop single-line diagrams (SLDs), electrical system layouts, and preliminary designs to support proposals.
- Provide technical presentations and documentation to communicate system designs and capabilities to clients.
- Assist in preparing cost estimates, technical specifications, and RFP responses.
Project Engineering, Design and Execution
- Support electrical design and engineering efforts for energy storage systems, microgrids and renewable energy deployment projects.
- Develop detailed engineering documentation, including SLDs (incl MV and HV), cable schedules, and protection & control schemes.
- Draft and evaluate technical specifications of the power and control equipment
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to integrate electrical systems with civil, mechanical, and structural designs.
- Oversee technical aspects of project implementation, including grid interconnections, system testing, and commissioning.
- Provide technical support during procurement and construction phases, ensuring alignment with design specifications.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and safety regulations (e.g., NEC, IEEE, UL, IEC).
Technical Oversight & Coordination
- Conduct site assessments to identify electrical design requirements and project constraints.
- Review and approve designs from external consultants and contractors.
- Support procurement efforts by evaluating vendor products and ensuring compatibility with project specifications.
- Provide technical support during construction, commissioning, and troubleshooting phases.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- 3 to 5 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on energy storage, renewables, and power systems.
- Strong knowledge of energy storage systems, including battery technologies, PCS/inverters, renewables, and grid control.
- Experience with project workflows, including planning, execution, and stakeholder engagement.
- Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, ETAP, PSCAD, or similar tools).
- Familiarity with interconnection standards (e.g., IEEE 1547), Requirements for Electrical Installations (eg. BS 7671:2018) and grid compliance requirements.
- Experience with project management tools and methodologies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and with clients.
- Candidate will be required to travel to various location, depending on business needs.
