Production Supervisor - Job Scope

Industry: Food Manufacturing / Yong Tau Foo / Frozen Steamboat Ingredients
Location: Singapore

Main Responsibilities

  1. Production Planning & CoordinationPlan daily production schedule based on sales orders, stock requirements, and delivery deadlines.Coordinate manpower, raw materials, machines, and production lines to meet output targets.Ensure production runs smoothly with minimal downtime and wastage.
  2. Supervise Production WorkersLead and supervise production operators, packers, kitchen assistants, and general workers.Assign duties to workers and ensure work is completed according to schedule.Monitor staff attendance, punctuality, discipline, and work performance.Train new workers on production procedures, hygiene practices, safety rules, and product handling.
  3. Food Safety & Hygiene ControlEnsure all production activities comply with SFA food safety requirements.Enforce proper personal hygiene, food handling, cleaning, and sanitation procedures.Ensure workers wear proper PPE, hair nets, gloves, masks, aprons, and safety footwear.Monitor cleanliness of production area, cold room, packing area, equipment, and utensils.
  4. Quality ControlCheck product quality during production, including size, weight, appearance, texture, freshness, and packaging condition.Ensure products are manufactured according to company specifications and recipes.Identify and report quality issues, defects, contamination risks, or abnormal product conditions.Work with QC/QA team to maintain food safety and product quality standards.
  5. Raw Material & Inventory MonitoringCheck availability of raw materials, ingredients, packaging materials, and labels before production starts.Monitor raw material usage and prevent unnecessary wastage.Ensure proper stock rotation using FIFO/FEFO methods.Report low stock, damaged stock, expired ingredients, or abnormal inventory levels.
  6. Machine & Equipment MonitoringEnsure production machines and equipment are operated safely and correctly.Monitor basic equipment condition and report breakdowns or faults promptly.Coordinate with maintenance team for machine servicing or repair.Ensure proper cleaning of machines after production.
  7. Packing & Labelling SupervisionSupervise packing of yong tau foo, fishballs, meatballs, seafood products, frozen steamboat items, and related food products.Ensure correct product labels, expiry dates, batch numbers, weights, and packaging formats are used.Check sealing, vacuum packing, top-seal packaging, carton packing, and frozen storage condition where applicable.
  8. Cold Chain & Storage ControlEnsure frozen and chilled products are stored at the correct temperature.Monitor movement of goods to and from cold rooms or freezers.Ensure products are properly arranged, labelled, and protected from contamination.Report temperature abnormalities or cold room issues immediately.
  9. Production Records & DocumentationMaintain daily production records, manpower records, wastage records, cleaning records, and batch records.Record product output, rejected goods, raw material usage, and downtime.Ensure documentation is accurate and submitted on time.
  10. Workplace Safety
  • Ensure workers follow workplace safety procedures.
  • Prevent unsafe work practices involving knives, machines, hot water, slippery floors, heavy lifting, and cold-room operations.
  • Report workplace accidents, near misses, equipment hazards, or safety risks.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  1. Problem Solving & Reporting
  • Handle daily production issues such as manpower shortage, machine breakdown, material shortage, quality defects, and urgent orders.
  • Escalate serious issues to Production Manager or Management.
  • Suggest improvements to increase productivity, reduce wastage, and improve workflow.
  1. Compliance & Audit Support
  • Support internal and external audits, including SFA, ISO, HACCP, halal, customer audits, or supplier audits where applicable.
  • Ensure production practices follow company SOPs and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in corrective actions after audit findings or customer complaints.
  1. Ad-hoc Duties
  • Assist with receiving, stock checking, order preparation, delivery coordination, or warehouse support when required.
  • Perform other duties assigned by Production Manager or Management.
