Job Description

Role Summary

The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing all manufacturing operations to ensure products are produced efficiently, safely, and in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), company SOPs, and applicable regulatory requirements.

This role manages production planning, supervises production personnel, and ensures that manufacturing processes consistently deliver high-quality products. The Production Manager works closely with Quality Assurance (QA), R&D, and Warehouse teams to ensure smooth production flow, operational discipline, and timely product delivery.

The role also supports continuous improvement of manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, maintain product quality, and support the company's growth and product development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Production Operations

  • Plan, organise and oversee daily manufacturing operations to ensure production targets and delivery timelines are met.
  • Develop and manage production schedules based on demand forecasts and operational capacity.
  • Ensure adequate staffing, equipment, and materials are available for efficient production activities.
  • Monitor production processes to ensure adherence to approved SOPs, GMP standards, and operational procedures.
  • Verify and approve production records to ensure manufacturing activities are accurately documented and completed.

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure manufacturing activities are conducted in accordance with GMP requirements, regulatory standards, and internal quality procedures.
  • Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to investigate deviations, implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and maintain process compliance.
  • Support internal audits, quality reviews, and regulatory inspections when required.

Equipment & Facility Management

  • Oversee the proper operation, maintenance, and calibration of production equipment.
  • Ensure production areas are maintained in accordance with cleanliness, safety, and operational standards.
  • Ensure compliance with workplace safety requirements and environmental controls within production areas.

Team Leadership

  • Supervise production personnel, assign tasks, and monitor performance to ensure efficient operations.
  • Provide training and guidance to production staff on SOPs, GMP practices, and safe work procedures.
  • Plan manpower allocation and maintain productivity and discipline within the production team.

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Collaborate with R&D on product scale-up, manufacturing feasibility, and new product implementation.
  • Coordinate with the Warehouse team to ensure timely availability and proper handling of raw materials and production supplies.
  • Work closely with QA to ensure manufacturing processes align with quality and regulatory requirements.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve production efficiency, reduce waste, and optimise manufacturing processes.
  • Develop and implement measures to mitigate operational risks within production areas.
  • Contribute to operational improvements that enhance productivity and product consistency.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Ensure production activities, waste handling, and environmental practices comply with workplace safety and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Science, Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing operations, preferably in health products, pharmaceutical, FMCG, or related industries.
  • Familiarity with GMP / GxP standards and regulatory requirements in manufacturing environments.
  • Experience managing production staff, production scheduling, and shop-floor operations.
  • Exposure to regulatory inspections or manufacturing audits is an advantage.
  • Detailed, possess strong critical thinking and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational, problem-solving, and operational management skills.
  • Able to communicate in English and Mandarin to support coordination with operational staff.
  • Hands-on and possess practical approach to managing manufacturing operations.
