Our client is highly respected global quantitative investment and trading firm that is expanding its engineering footprint in Tokyo, Japan. The team sits at the heart of a systematic trading business operating across equities, options, and other electronic markets, supporting one of the world's most sophisticated trading platforms.

The role combines elements of software engineering, infrastructure engineering, and real-time trading systems support. Engineers are responsible for building automation, improving platform reliability, enhancing monitoring and observability, supporting global trading operations, and partnering closely with traders, quantitative researchers, and developers.

You will take on the following responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain scalable, ultra-low latency systems focused on automation, including deploying new features and fixes for a global multi-asset electronic trading business.
• Enhance real-time monitoring and refine incident and crisis management SLOs, diagnosing and resolving issues with intraday transactions.
• Design and implement architecture and support for the proprietary trading environment, including system design consulting, platform management, capacity planning, tools development, network, colocation site management, and vendor/exchange connectivity across three continents.
• Collaborate with software and infrastructure teams to define and improve technical and operational best practices.

You should possess the following qualifications:

• Strong experience in Production or Reliability Engineering
• A Bachelors with Honours in a relevant discipline is required
• Ability to program (structured and OO) with one or more high level language (such as Python, Java, C++)
• Proven track record for automating processes combined with an algorithmic approach to solving problems
• Ability to profile and debug applications in real time
• Trading domain and order lifecycle management knowledge is a plus
• Linux administration experience. In-depth knowledge of networking technology (such as kernel bypass) is preferred, but not required
• Experience with market data production support and/or trade desk support, and knowledge of market microstructure, is preferred but not required
• Proven track record of supporting live production systems
