Product & Medical Underwriter - 8 months contract

Join a dynamic team as a medical underwriter, where you will evaluate applications for international private medical insurance and make key risk decisions to enhance customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Review and underwrite new, renewal, and endorsement applications for individual and group international private medical insurance policies. Conduct thorough assessments of medical histories, pre-existing conditions, and supporting documentation to facilitate informed risk decisions. Manage complex cases from start to finish, including handling requests for additional information and escalations. Maintain meticulous underwriting records and documentation while strictly complying with data protection regulations. Analyse and interpret medical reports, test results, and physician statements to ensure accurate underwriting outcomes. Meet turnaround time (TAT) targets to ensure timely responses and enhance customer satisfaction. Collate and present monthly reports regarding completed cases, outstanding cases, TAT performance, and additional key metrics. Support the handover process at the end of the contract.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in medical underwriting, particularly in international private medical insurance. Proven capability to independently underwrite complex medical cases involving multiple conditions. Strong track record of consistently achieving TAT targets in a production environment. Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, common diseases, treatments, diagnostics, and procedures. Solid understanding of medical underwriting principles, risk assessment methods, and international health insurance products. Familiarity with global healthcare systems and regional medical practices. Proficient in internal underwriting systems and Microsoft Office applications. Quick learner adept at building good working relationships within a team and contributing to team deliverables.
