We are looking for a detail-oriented Product Design Intern to support our product research and design. This role will allow you to be involved in product research, design coordination, working closely with the design and product teams.
If you enjoy discovering new products, understanding design trends, and learning how ideas turn into real products, this internship will give you hands-on exposure to the full procurement and product lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the team to brainstorm and develop creative furniture design concepts.
- Develop furniture designs from concept through prototyping to final production.
- Communicate research findings, design ideas, and design rationale clearly through visuals and presentations.
- Create design outputs including sketches, renderings, and 3D models.
- Support product development, prototyping, and testing activities.
- Work closely with the production team to ensure design specifications are accurately implemented.
- Assist in the selection of materials, finishes, and hardware.
- Conduct research on design trends, materials, and competitor products.
- Maintain organised design documentation, including drawings, layouts, and specifications.
- Assist with document management, including version control, updates, and organisation of project files in line with project milestones.
- Review design and project documents for accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging design technologies.
- Carry out other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree or diploma in Furniture Design, Industrial Design, Interior Design, or a related field.
- Strong passion for furniture design with a good eye for aesthetics and detail.
- Proficiency in relevant design software and/or strong sketching/drawing skills.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
- Detail-oriented and comfortable handling documentation and revisions.
- Open to feedback and able to apply it constructively.
- Self-motivated and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of sustainable design principles is a plus.
- No prior work experience required, but a strong portfolio is essential.
