Job Description
Position Title: Procurement Manager
Industry: Traditional Food & Kuih Manufacturing
(Ang Ku Kuih, Huat Kuih, Dumplings, Soon Kuih, etc.)
The Procurement Manager is responsible for strategic sourcing, supplier management, and procurement planningto support the manufacturing operations of a traditional food production facility. The role ensures timely availability of raw materials, cost control, quality compliance, and supply continuity, while aligning procurement activities with production schedules and business objectives.
Procurement Planning & Strategy
Develop and implement procurement plans to support daily production and peak seasonal demand
Forecast raw material requirements based on production schedules and historical usage
Establish procurement strategies to ensure cost efficiency, quality consistency, and supply reliability
Supplier & Vendor Management
Source, evaluate, and manage suppliers for raw materials such as flour, glutinous rice, fillings, palm sugar, packaging materials, and related ingredients
Negotiate pricing, contract terms, delivery schedules, and payment conditions
Maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure consistent quality and timely delivery
Cost Control & Budget Management
Monitor material costs, price trends, and supplier performance
Implement cost-saving initiatives while maintaining product quality standards
Support management in budgeting, cost analysis, and procurement reporting
Quality & Compliance
Ensure all procured materials meet food safety, hygiene, and regulatory requirements
Work closely with operations and quality teams to address quality issues and supplier non-conformance
Ensure compliance with internal SOPs and relevant food manufacturing regulations
Inventory & Supply Chain Coordination
Coordinate with operations and warehouse teams to manage inventory levels and prevent shortages or overstocking
Monitor stock usage, lead times, and delivery schedules
Ensure uninterrupted supply during festive and peak production periods
Reporting & Management Support
Prepare procurement reports, supplier performance reviews, and cost summaries for management
Support management decision-making through procurement data and analysis
Perform other procurement-related managerial duties as assigned
This is a managerial role with strategic and operational accountability
Working hours may vary depending on production schedules and supply requirements
Occasional early coordination may be required to support production readiness and supplier deliveries
Experience in procurement, supply chain management, or purchasing, preferably in food manufacturing or FMCG
Strong negotiation, vendor management, and cost control skills
Understanding of food ingredients, packaging materials, and hygiene standards
Good planning, analytical, and stakeholder coordination abilities
