Role Overview
The Head of Procurement is responsible for driving cost improvements through strategic sourcing, supplier quality initiatives, and effective procurement governance. This role supports new product development by prioritizing and allocating resources, while overseeing supply chain process improvements and breakthroughs in alignment with company strategy and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Sourcing
- Develop and execute an overall sourcing strategy covering both domestic and international supplier panels to optimize cost, quality, delivery performance, and inventory effectiveness.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate risks related to raw materials, suppliers, global regions, and changing economic conditions.
- Establish strategic sourcing plans for key goods to ensure consistent supply at competitive pricing and required quality standards.
- Evaluate price trends, new products, alternative materials, and process improvements to enhance sourcing decisions.
- Continuously identify alternative sources and streamlined processes to reduce costs, improve service levels, and enhance quality.
- Define procurement methods, supplier quality processes, and qualification criteria for new suppliers.
- Perform detailed cost analysis and establish benchmarks to support sourcing and negotiation decisions.
- Partner closely with project and cross‑functional teams to manage procurement activities supporting new product development initiatives.
Procurement & Operations
- Oversee all procurement activities across the Procure‑to‑Pay (P2P) process.
- Monitor market trends, supplier capabilities, and product availability to support business continuity.
- Develop and implement strategies for procuring, storing, and distributing goods while maintaining optimal inventory levels.
- Ensure vendor compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and established quality guidelines.
- Utilize ERP systems effectively to process new and repeat material and component orders with competitive pricing and lead times.
- Evaluate freight and logistics practices to develop scalable strategies that optimize inbound freight spend and logistics efficiency.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to close operational gaps, manage costs, and improve overall procurement performance.
- Continuously enhance procurement processes, frameworks, and governance to achieve operational excellence and high customer satisfaction.
Requirements
Experience & Qualifications
- Proven work experience as a Head of Procurement or in a senior procurement leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of sourcing and procurement methodologies, with the ability to interpret and respond to market conditions.
- Bachelor's degree (BSc or equivalent) in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
