Objective
Serve as the technical specialist for PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assembly) process engineering and lead Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) initiatives to optimize manufacturing processes, drive cost reduction, and support New Product Introduction (NPI) projects within the Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the process engineering lead for PCBA, supporting both NPI and mass production phases to meet customer deliverables.
- Participate in the RFQ phase, addressing process technical queries and obtaining tooling quotations
- Develop and implement manufacturing plans for NPI projects, including process setup, layout, validation, and documentation (Process Flow, PFMEA, Control Plan, Work Instructions) in collaboration with Site FA teams.
- Coordinate and support first article runs and qualification activities with site manufacturing Engineer.
- Lead and execute VAVE projects focused on cost reduction, process optimization, and value enhancement for PCBA manufacturing.
- Analyze product designs, materials, and processes to identify improvement opportunities and drive implementation of VAVE solutions.
- Facilitate cross-functional workshops and technical reviews for VAVE initiatives.
- Prepare and present business cases for VAVE proposals, quantifying potential savings and benefits.
- Travel to manufacturing sites (Batam, Vietnam) as required for NPI-FA runs and project support.
- Utilize engineering tools and methodologies such as PFMEA, SPC, DOE, and 8D reports for continuous improvement.
- Ensure effective communication with customers and internal stakeholders, providing technical expertise and project updates.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years experience in PCBA process engineering within EMS, with proven proficiency in SMT and manual soldering processes.
- Demonstrated experience in VAVE projects, cost reduction, and process optimization.
- Strong knowledge of PFMEA, SPC, DOE, and 8D methodologies.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills for effective cross-functional and customer interaction.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint) for data analysis and project presentations.
- Willingness to travel as required for project and site support.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Cost (DFC).
- Familiarity with supply chain optimization and supplier collaboration.
- Lean Six Sigma certification is an advantage.
