(Principal) Senior Medical Laboratory Scientist

Join a dynamic laboratory team as a Principal/Senior Medical Laboratory Scientist, where you'll play a pivotal role in genomic diagnostics. This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead innovative laboratory processes in an advanced scientific setting.

Responsibilities

• Lead and strategize the wet lab processing for advanced genomic services, ensuring effective management of clinical and developmental aspects. Supervise the preparation of samples, library preparation, and sequencing processes while validating and verifying test protocols. Utilize scientific principles to optimize laboratory assays and troubleshoot operational issues. Implement and apply bioinformatics tools for primary data analysis, along with design and analysis of Primers & Probes and SNP-ID. Oversee the laboratory's compliance with external quality control programs and regulatory standards. Mentor and train Medical Laboratory Technologists/Scientists in wet lab and bioinformatics processes. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including clinicians and administrative personnel, to enhance integrated service delivery. Contribute to laboratory management activities, including human resource management and strategic planning. Perform additional duties as assigned by the reporting officer.

Requirements

• Good Class Honours Degree/BSc/MSc/Ph.D. in genetics, genomics, human genetics, or related biological sciences/life sciences field. A minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in wet-lab processing and methodological verifications. Strong technical expertise in molecular biology and NGS workflows. Understanding and experience in quality management systems, particularly compliance with ISO15189 and/or CAP standards. Proficiency in bioinformatics tools and ability to interpret complex data. High attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality assurance. Capacity to troubleshoot and optimize protocols independently. Effective communication and documentation skills for regulatory compliance. Minimum of 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role, showcasing teamwork and leadership capabilities. Positive attitude, proactive mindset, and a willingness to take initiatives. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work within tight timelines.
