This position is responsible for the development of interdigitated back-contact (IBC) solar cell technology for commercial production. The candidate to bring innovative ideas to enhance conversion efficiency while reducing processing costs and complexity. A strong background in semiconductor physics, thin film deposition, and experimental designs and analysis is essential. The individual will also design production line equipment for IBC technology and play a proactive role in staying updated on external solar cell technology advancements affecting the REC technology roadmap.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Tasks
- Develop the interdigitated back-contact cell based on the heterojunction technology.
- Engage in setting the production equipment specifications.

- Always comply with the company's safety protocol.
- Participate in projects related to safety improvement.
Communication and Presentation
- Ability to communicate and present at all levels of the organization.
Others
- Perform other duties as assigned. Duties will vary according to the degree of difficulty and involvement of the specific targets set in the department.
- Keep up-to-date on new external developments on processes for silicon solar cells.
- Develop a network in Singapore and abroad with experts in the field.
- Depending on the competencies developed, the engineer may be rotated to different departments.
Qualifications
- Minimum Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or Chemistry.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in an R&D or engineering department of Solar/ Semiconductors/ Electronics industry.
- Proven track record of developing new technologies and implementing them into pilot and/or mass production environment.
- Knowledge and hands-on experience on IBC cell processing and measurements.
- Expertise in efficiency loss analysis based on the measurements and characterization.
- Ability to work with limited supervision and through extended hours when needed to meet business commitments.
- Able to perform standing work for longer period of time when performing hands-on experiment

- Working experience in Solar/Semiconductors/Electronics R&D is required
Additional Advantageous Skills
- Experience with advanced processes for high-efficiency crystalline silicon solar cells.
- Experience in using simulation software e.g. MatLab.
