This role is responsible for leading the design, analysis, testing, and manufacturing support of mechanical components used in power conversion and plasma source systems. The ideal candidate should possess broad mechanical engineering expertise, take full ownership of design projects, and have strong knowledge in heat transfer and materials science.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently develop detailed, optimized mechanical designs for high-power electronic packaging and vacuum chamber systems.
  • Lead the design and documentation of sheet metal, injection-molded, and machined components.
  • Collaborate within cross-functional engineering teams to support new platform development efforts, including coordination with teams in the U.S. and Asia.
  • Perform tolerance stack-up analyses to evaluate dimensional and positional variations in mechanical assemblies.
  • Conduct engineering simulations, including thermal, structural, and fluid-flow analysis.
  • Design and execute experiments, including temperature and stress/strain measurements, to validate performance.
  • Apply knowledge of material properties, behaviors, and failure mechanisms of polymers, metals, and ceramics.
  • Plan and perform durability and performance testing of components.
  • Work closely with manufacturing partners to ensure designs are cost-effective and production-ready.
  • Incorporate fabrication methods-such as machining, grinding, and forming-into the design process to ensure manufacturability.
  • Provide technical guidance to Mechanical Designers and Drafters.
  • Support prototype builds and rework activities, including the use of 3D printing technologies.

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Materials Science.
  • At least five years of relevant mechanical design experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software.
  • Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ANSI Y14.5 standards.
  • Experience performing thermal analysis using hand calculations and simulation tools (ANSYS preferred).
  • Background in plasma processing and semiconductor manufacturing, including material purity and cleanliness requirements.
  • Experience working with vacuum systems in plasma processing applications.
  • Strong materials science knowledge to design components for harsh plasma environments.
  • Familiarity with metal machining, sheet metal fabrication, and injection molding processes.
  • Expertise in thermal instrumentation and experimental validation methods.
  • Preferred experience with Python or MATLAB scripting for data acquisition and simulation support.
  • Preferred experience developing anodization processes for corrosive environments.
