Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end development of optical engine transmit modules, overseeing the transition from prototype validation to high-volume manufacturing. Collaborate with design teams to seamlessly integrate laser sources and modulators into comprehensive optical engines. Develop and execute characterization plans for EMLs, high-speed modulators, and photonic waveguide structures. Analyze critical transmitter parameters, such as optical output power, extinction ratio, modulation bandwidth, and temperature dependence. Establish tailored engineering and production test flows for transmitting module screening and validation. Utilize production data to pinpoint performance variations, yield detractors, and potential reliability risks. Implement automated data analysis and reporting tools to identify root causes of transmitter performance limitations. Provide cross-functional technical support by partnering with packaging and sales teams for product documentation and market-facing specifications.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Photonics, Physics, or a related field a Master's or PhD in photonics and optoelectronics is preferred. 8-12+ years of experience in photonics, optical communications, or semiconductor optoelectronic product development. Proven experience with optical transmitter or optical engine products used in optical transceivers. Proficiency in data collection and analysis using Excel is required familiarity with JMP, Python, C/C++, MATLAB, LabVIEW, R, or similar tools is advantageous. Experience with mask layout tools (e.g., KLayout, LayoutEditor) and simulation tools (e.g., Lumerical FDTD, RSoft, ZEMAX, SolidWorks) is beneficial. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking abilities complemented by excellent communication and collaboration skills.
