Principal Engineer (Structure)

Job Description

• Review key project documents, including construction specifications, Project Execution Plan (PEP), equipment data sheets, bid packages, and contract documents.
• Check and verify sketches, drawings, specifications, and other engineering data from team members using common engineering tools and software.
• Lead discussions with internal teams (e.g. stability & mooring, general design, weight control), subcontractors, and consultants to resolve technical issues and design solutions.
• Supervise the team responsible for verifying and validating final structural design drawings for fabrication and construction in EPCC projects.
• Lead project meetings, handle technical queries, and review structural design deliverables for facilities, fabrication, transportation, and installation.
• Liaise with clients, statutory bodies, and classification authorities to ensure design compliance and approval.
• Prepare and submit progress reports to senior team members and authorities for review and approval.
• Oversee the team's progress in delivering structural design requirements from FEED to detailed engineering.
• Conduct studies on new offshore structures and vessels to assess design suitability for different operational and environmental conditions (e.g. nearshore, shallow water, mid-water).
• Review and validate design calculations (e.g. longitudinal and hull strength, steel materials) based on standard engineering practices.
• Develop welding plans, specifications, drawings, and sequences, including NDT plans, tank test plans, and structural categorization.
• Review structural analyses to ensure the adequacy and integrity of main framework components.
• Perform constructability reviews based on 3D models and detailed structural design drawings.

Job Requirements

• Hold a bachelor's degree in civil, Structural, or Naval Architecture Engineering.
• Possess at least 10 years of experience in planning, constructing, and designing topside structures.
• Handle offshore topside structures such as FPSO, FPU, and Jacket.
• Use Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, STAAD, SACS, and other structural analysis software effectively.
• Apply strong knowledge in topside structure design and analysis.
• Prepare class-approved documents and structural drawings.

• Review, check, and comment on basic and detailed structural designs.

• Follow and apply design codes and standards such as AISC and API
• Manage material selection, take-off, and procurement activities.

Working Hours:

Monday - Thursday: 8:00am - 5.15pm

Friday: 8:00am - 4.30pm
