About The Role

We are recruiting for a Principal Advisor - 3rd Party Book Management to be the subject matter expertise on the development of trading strategies and support the execution of key value capturing opportunities relating to how we trade (physical & derivative), structure (structuring, origination) and sell (product development and pricing) our products in alignment with our commercial strategy and risk management frameworks.

Reporting to the Senior Manager Iron Ore Book. you will be entrusted with the following responsibilities

Origination

Core of this role is physical trading, business development and contracting. Focused on third party products that (i) help manage instability in the quality / volume profile of the Iron ore value chain and (ii) generate physical trading opportunities.

  • Drive and deliver 3rd Party iron ore origination strategy, identify new suppliers or projects opportunities together with the originators and potential offtake opportunities to enable physical flows.
  • Develop and structure solutions to unlock offtakes, including pricing strategies, product transformation, financing, time arbitrage and logistical solutions with the appropriate risk-return assessment.
  • Manage the 3rd Party Book end-to-end flow, including allocation and inventory planning, and manage risk exposure with physical and derivatives tools.
  • Maintain knowledge, intel and expertise in high grade iron ore market and leverage product knowledge to build synergies with our overall IO book.
  • Work with Market Analysis and Competitor analysis to help maintain above high-grade market intel.
  • Supply and demand models, cost / availability and quality profile of 3rd party products.

Portside Integration

  • Complementing the work of Senior Manager Iron Ore Book to support alignment of marketing strategies between Portside and IO Book, product strategy and product placement.

Project Management and Business Improvement

  • Capable of leading complex projects across multiple teams to deliver commercial changes in business processes that foster continuous improvement.
  • Strong cross team collaboration skills to facilitate strategic objectives.

About You

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have

  • A recognized University degree.
  • At least 5 years of progressive experience in commercial in commodities sector, across sales & marketing, supply chain and trading.
  • Experience with derivatives trading and exposure management.
  • Prior experience in iron ore market or another commodity is preferred.
  • Confident in challenging the status quo and experience in driving trade-off analysis and efficiencies.
  • Ability to manage external and internal relationships and influence commercial outcomes including at a senior level.

Headquartered in Singapore, and integrated with Rio Tinto's assets, hubs, and offices globally, our Commercial group works hand-in-hand with our product groups to ensure both the amount and types of products we produce meet our customer's needs, and manage the trade-off between volumes, quality, cost and capital expenditure.
