About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Portfolio Manager with a proven background in family office investment management. The ideal candidate is accustomed to operating in a discreet, fast-paced, and principal-focused environment, managing multi-asset portfolios with a strong emphasis on long-term wealth preservation and selective growth.
This role requires exceptional judgement, strong analytical capabilities, and the agility to support both strategic and opportunistic investment decisions on behalf of the family.
Key Responsibilities
Holistic Portfolio Management
- Manage a diversified global investment portfolio, including public markets, alternatives, private equity, fixed income, real estate, and structured products.
- Develop customised investment strategies aligned with the family's objectives, risk tolerance, values, and intergenerational wealth considerations.
- Proactively rebalance portfolios and ensure optimal allocation between liquid and illiquid assets.
Research, Due Diligence & Opportunity Sourcing
- Identify and evaluate new investment opportunities across multiple asset classes suitable for a family office setting.
- Conduct thorough financial modelling, qualitative assessments, and risk analysis for potential investments.
- Perform detailed due diligence for private deals, co-investments, boutique funds, and direct investments.
- Build and maintain strong networks with private banks, asset managers, investment partners, and deal sources.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting
- Track portfolio performance using benchmarks, performance attribution, and qualitative assessments.
- Prepare clear monthly/quarterly reports and investment updates for principals and senior stakeholders.
- Provide timely insights and recommendations in response to market events, economic shifts, or emerging risks.
Principal & Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with family principals to understand long-term goals, personal preferences, liquidity needs, and legacy planning priorities.
- Communicate complex financial information clearly, concisely, and confidentially.
- Collaborate with external advisors, private bankers, lawyers, tax specialists, and consultants on investment-related matters.
Governance, Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure all investment activities adhere to internal guidelines, regulatory standards, and risk parameters.
- Uphold the highest levels of confidentiality, discretion, and data security.
- Develop and maintain investment frameworks, policies, and risk tracking tools relevant to family office operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related fields CFA is highly preferred.
- Minimum 5-8 years of experience in a Single Family Office or UHNW wealth management environment.
- Proven experience managing or analysing multi-asset class portfolios.
- Strong quantitative and qualitative investment evaluation skills, including financial modelling.
- Excellent relationship-building skills with the ability to engage directly and professionally with UHNW principals.
- High level of maturity, integrity, discretion, and sound judgement.
- Ability to work independently, execute with precision, and adapt to evolving priorities.
- Comfortable liaising with Chinese-speaking principals and stakeholders (Mandarin proficiency preferred).
