Position Summary

The Portfolio Manager oversees a portfolio of projects, bids, and pipeline opportunities across a regional, cross-functional, and customer-facing environment. The role ensures alignment between business strategy, growth objectives, delivery capacity, and financial performance. It provides portfolio-level oversight across all stages of maturity, from opportunity development and bidding to project execution, ensuring effective governance, performance management, risk mitigation, and resource prioritization. The position plays a key role in strengthening portfolio performance and supporting the organization's transition towards larger, more complex programmes.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor portfolio KPIs, including revenue, profitability, cost, schedule, and risk. Identify performance gaps, drive corrective actions, and escalate critical issues.
  • Support bid and project prioritization based on strategic alignment, business value, resource availability, and delivery capacity. Contribute to portfolio roadmaps and investment decisions.
  • Ensure consistent application of bid and project governance frameworks, reporting standards, processes, and compliance requirements.
  • Review and challenge financial forecasts, cost estimates, margin assumptions, and commercial performance to support sound business decisions.
  • Maintain portfolio-level visibility of risks and opportunities, ensuring effective mitigation, escalation, and balanced risk exposure.
  • Drive alignment and collaboration across Sales, Bid, Delivery, Finance, and other stakeholders, including customer-facing teams.
  • Promote lessons learned, best practices, process standardization, and enhanced portfolio reporting and performance visibility.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related discipline.
  • 8-12 years of experience in project, bid, programme, or portfolio management.
  • Proven experience overseeing multiple projects, bids, or complex workstreams.
  • Experience in Security, Defence, Transport, or Systems Integration industries is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of project and bid management, financial and commercial management, governance, and risk management.
  • Strong analytical, strategic, and financial acumen, with the ability to translate complex portfolio data into actionable insights.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills.
  • Proactive, collaborative, and results-oriented, with the ability to manage competing priorities and drive performance in a complex, matrix environment.

Here, you'll feel empowered to bring your best self, thrive in a supportive culture, and love the work you do.
