Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Surface Preparation: Cleaning, repairing, and preparing surfaces by removing old plaster, patching holes, and fixing plasterboard/drylining to ensure a level base.
- Mixing Materials: Preparing mortar, plaster, or stucco to the correct consistency using hand tools or mechanical mixers.
- Application: Applying coats of plaster to walls and ceilings using trowels, floats, and sprays to achieve smooth, durable, and even finishes.
- Decorative & Exterior Work: Creating ornamental features like cornices and moldings, as well as applying protective coatings like pebble dash or render to external walls.
- Safety & Maintenance: Following safety guidelines, wearing protective equipment, and maintaining tools to ensure they are in good working condition.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in different plastering techniques (skimming, rendering, drylining).
- Physical Stamina: Ability to work at heights, stand for long periods, and lift heavy materials.
- Precision & Skill: Ability to produce high-quality, smooth, and level finishes.
- Communication: Coordinating with other tradespeople and clients.
