Job Summary
You will prepare and apply plaster and tiles with precision, ensuring surfaces are clean, smooth, and properly treated. You will cut, shape, and align tiles and stone materials accurately to achieve durable, even, and decorative finishes.
Responsibilities
- Clean and smooth surfaces to prepare for plaster or tile application
- Apply bonding agents or mesh to surfaces when needed for better adhesion
- Mix plaster materials such as gypsum, lime, and cement with water to achieve the correct consistency for each job
- Use tools like trowels, floats, and hawks to spread plaster layers by hand or machine
- Build up plaster thickness in stages: base coat, scratchcoat, and finish coat
- Smooth or texture the final plaster surface and create decorative moldings or patterns as required
- Repair cracks, holes, or damaged plaster surfaces and restore historical or ornamental plasterwork
- Cut tiles using power and hand tools to fit around obstacles, tight corners, and irregular spaces
- Form tile beds using concrete, plaster, mastic, cement, glue, or mortar with screeds, brushes, and trowels
- Load and unload materials safely and efficiently to support worksite operations
- Align tiles and straighten them using straightedges, levels, and squares to ensure even, precise patterns
- Cut, install, polish, and surface granite and marble with accuracy to ensure durable, high-quality finishes
- Prepare surfaces for tiling by applying waterproofing materials or lath and thoroughly cleaning the surfaces
