Job Summary
The Plant Maintenance Manager oversees the daily operation, maintenance, and reliability of the automated greenhouse plant and its supporting systems. The role manages automation and PLC control systems,preventive maintenance programs, and facility infrastructure to ensure efficient and uninterrupted plant operations. This position also supervises technical teams and contractors, ensures compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, and drives continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
1. Plant Management (Greenhouse)
- Oversee the daily operation of the automated greenhouse plant and its supporting infrastructure.
- Monitor system performance to ensure stable environmental conditions required for crop production.
- Work closely with farm operations teams to ensure smooth and continuous production activities.
2. Automation and Control Systems
- Manage and maintain plant automation and control systems, including PLC systems.
- Perform or supervise system troubleshooting, programming adjustments, and optimization.
- Monitor system performance and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and reliability.
3. Maintenance Management
- Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance programs for all plant equipment and facility systems.
- Oversee maintenance of HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and environmental control systems.
- Manage spare parts inventory and ensure availability of critical components to minimize downtime.
4. Team Leadership and Supervision
Lead and supervise the greenhouse maintenance and facility team, including:
- Maintenance Technicians
- IT Systems Engineer (automation and IT infrastructure)
- Facility support staff
Responsibilities include:
- Assigning maintenance tasks and schedules
- Providing technical guidance and supervision
- Monitoring performance and ensuring operational standards
5. Vendor and Contractor Management
- Manage and coordinate external contractors and service providers for maintenance and technical services.
- Evaluate vendor performance and ensure services are delivered according to quality and safety standards.
6. Health, Safety and Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with workplace safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct safety inspections and risk assessments.
- Implement safety procedures and emergency preparedness plans.
7. Budgeting and Reporting
- Prepare and manage plant maintenance and operational budgets.
- Track maintenance costs and equipment performance.
- Maintain maintenance records and provide operational reports to management.
8. Plant Improvement and Sustainability
- Identify opportunities to improve plant efficiency, automation reliability, and operational performance.
- Support plant upgrades, equipment improvements, and infrastructure projects.
- Implement energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives within plant operations.
Qualifications and Experience
- This position is open to Singapore Citizens and Singapore Permanent Residents only.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in plant operations, facility maintenance, or automated industrial systems.
- Strong knowledge of PLC systems, automation controls, and equipment maintenance.
- Experience managing technical teams, contractors, and maintenance programs.
- Experience in controlled environment agriculture or greenhouse operations is an advantage.
- Strong problem-solving, planning, and leadership skills.
