This role requires strong technical knowledge of physical cargo workflows, vessel operations, and regulatory requirements, along with the ability to troubleshoot operational issues in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate is hands-on, solutions-driven, and able to work collaboratively with traders, finance, and risk teams to deliver timely, accurate, and efficient cargo operations.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Oversee loading, discharge, vessel operations, and logistics coordination.

Stakeholder & Vendor Coordination

  • Liaise with shipowners, agents, surveyors, terminals, and inspection companies.
  • Maintain strong relationships with port authorities and logistics partners.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Prepare and verify all operational documents (BLs, COQs, LOIs, shipping instructions, regulatory forms).
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory, safety, and HSSE requirements.

Operational Efficiency & Troubleshooting

  • Monitor voyage progress, resolve operational issues, and minimise delays/disruptions.
  • Improve processes to enhance efficiency and reduce operational costs.
  • Support blending and quality-control operations where applicable.

Reporting & Performance Tracking

  • Maintain accurate operational records, voyage files, and KPIs.
  • Provide operational updates and support month-end reporting.

Risk & Claims Management

  • Identify operational risks and support mitigation measures.
  • Assist in preparing evidence for demurrage, cargo, and operational claims.

Team Collaboration & Support

  • Work closely with traders, finance, risk, and legal teams to enable smooth cargo execution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies, Logistics, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
  • 3-4 years of hands-on experience in physical cargo, shipping, or inspection operations-preferably within trading, energy, or marine logistics.
  • Strong understanding of physical trading workflows, vessel operations, global logistics, and industry regulations.
  • Experience with fuel oil or blending operations is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in cargo management platforms, operational software, and Excel.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
