PHP Developer - fully remote

Essential skills

• Understanding of strict typing, OOP patterns, and modern language features
• Practical experience with PSR-15 middleware, PSR-7 HTTP messages and Dependency Injection
• Awareness of web application security concerns
• Debugging code using Xdebug
• Mastery of dependency injection, decoupling techniques, and clean code principles
• Proficiency in writing automated tests using PHPUnit and its native mocking framework
• Raw SQL writing skills
• Experience with templating system and separating view logic from PHP backend processes (preferably Smarty)
• Understanding of CSS, JS and HTML
• Git – commit, merge, rebase, deal with conflicts
• Docker – start and stop

Desirable skills

• Experience with Mezzio and Laminas ecosystem
• Refactoring existing code for better readability and simplicity
• Asynchronous programming (Swoole, AMPHP, etc)
• Static analysis – psalm/phpstan
• Smarty PHP templating systems
• Webpack, Bootstrap 3.4 and 5.3, jQuery and Bootstrap 5.3 JS, LESS and SCSS
• Working in macOS/Linux terminal
• JIRA
• Bitbucket and PR workflow
• Track record of contributions on GitHub or similar

Responsibilities

• Implementing new functionality
• Modifying existing functionality to meet new requirements
• Developing integrations with other services
• Refactoring existing code
• Writing tests to cover any code changes
• Effectively convey all task progress, evaluations, suggestions, schedules along with technical and process issues
• Document processes, architecture, and functionality
• Communicate efficiently with other team members
• Work towards the deadlines in order to meet them
• Organise the tasks according to the priorities established with the Project Management team
• Take responsibility for all scheduled development work and ownership of thorough quality control
• Take responsibility for delivering on targets agreed with Project Manager and notify immediately of delays and changes
