Job Description

Role Summary

We are looking for an experienced Payroll Specialist to support a regional HR platform transformation program leveraging Workday. This role focuses on ensuring payroll accuracy, statutory compliance, and effective integration between Workday and country-level payroll solutions across multiple jurisdictions.

The successful candidate will work closely with HR, payroll vendors, and project teams to support localization, testing, go-live readiness, and post-implementation stabilization activities in a complex, multi-country environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret country-specific payroll legislation, statutory obligations, and operational practices
  • Support payroll configuration and processes ensure alignment with local regulatory requirements
  • Ensure consistency and data integrity between HR records and payroll processing
  • Support definition of payroll integration requirements between Workday and external payroll systems or vendors
  • Participate in payroll testing cycles, including unit testing, parallel runs, and reconciliation activities
  • Validate payroll results and investigate discrepancies prior to and after system deployment
  • Assist with payroll readiness assessments and cutover activities for system go-live
  • Provide post-go-live support, including issue tracking and resolution
  • Contribute documentation and operational handover to business-as-usual teams

Required Experience & Skills

  • 812+ years of experience in payroll operations or payroll-related roles
  • Strong exposure to multi-country or regional payroll environments
  • Solid understanding of payroll compliance, statutory reporting, and localization requirements
  • Experience working with HR platforms and payroll system integrations
  • Familiarity with payroll data flows, interfaces, and reconciliation processes
  • Exposure to Workday Payroll or Workday-integrated payroll solutions is an advantage
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to coordinate effectively across HR teams, payroll vendors, and project stakeholders
  • Detail-oriented with a structured approach to testing and validation
  • Clear communication and documentation skills

Nice to Have

  • Experience supporting payroll transformation or system implementation programs
  • Exposure to regulated or complex operating environments
  • Familiarity with organizations operating under Japanese business practices or governance models
