Job Description

At Roche you can show up as yourself, embraced for the unique qualities you bring. Our culture encourages personal expression, open dialogue, and genuine connections, where you are valued, accepted and respected for who you are, allowing you to thrive both personally and professionally. This is how we aim to prevent, stop and cure diseases and ensure everyone has access to healthcare today and for generations to come. Join Roche, where every voice matters.

The Position

Patient Journey Partner

A healthier future. It's what drives us to innovate. To continuously advance science and ensure everyone has access to the healthcare they need today and for generations to come. Creating a world where we all have more time with the people we love.

That's what makes us Roche.

Health care is changing: Radical innovation, increased openness to change, increasing patient empowerment, multiple sources of medical information, and pressure on public spending. As a result of all this, the needs of our stakeholders continue to evolve.

The patient journey partner is directly accountable to deliver better outcomes for patients, their community, the ecosystem and the organization, faster to deliver the triple win. The PJP is an empowered leader and the local face of Roche. She or he partners closely with all stakeholders directly touching the patient journey (in a given therapeutic or disease area), gaining a deep understanding of their needs in order to connect Roche's capabilities to co-create meaningful solutions.

This role is locally embedded in the ecosystem, it is an integrated role, functionally agnostic, (i.e. it does not fit into the traditional concepts of Commercial/Sales or Medical Affairs). It has no profitability, sales objectives or incentives

The PJP is the business owner solving for end-to-end patient journey constraints. This is a senior level role within the affiliate, who has decision making authority to develop the local disease area strategy and to request resources of Roche (both within the affiliate and broader network) in order to have improved impact on the patient journey while delivering commercial success.

The Opportunity

Strategic Commercial Leadership & Excellence

  • Disease Area Ownership: Act as the end-to-end business owner, accountable for achieving strategic ambitions and business targets within the assigned disease area.

  • Outcome-Driven Strategy: Develop and execute local strategies that align with Roche's global vision while addressing local ecosystem constraints to unlock commercial value.

  • Lifecycle Stewardship: Steward Roche's products through their entire lifecycle, ensuring maximum patient reach through evidence-based commercial and medical strategies.

  • Commercial Excellence: Leverage strong business acumen and expertise in commercialization, customer experience (CCXA), and digital transformation to optimize the patient journey.

  • Resource Prioritization: Lead the prioritization of strategic work packages and collaborate with Chapter Leads to ensure resource allocation is focused on highest-impact activities.

Leadership & Networked Ways of Working

  • Team Orchestration: Lead and influence cross-functional swarm teams without direct formal authority, aligning experts from Medical, Access, and support functions toward a unified strategic direction.

  • Network Integration: Embrace a networked way of working, sourcing solutions from internal and external networks to avoid duplication and scale impact.

  • Empowered Decision-Making: Act as an empowered leader with the authority to pull in resources from local and global functional enabler pools as needed.

  • Agile Execution: Drive an agile mindset, focusing on rapid experimentation, learning cycles, and the courage to stop non-value-adding activities.

  • Vision & Direction: Provide absolute clarity on desired outcomes and strategic guardrails to the ecosystem, empowering others to deliver while maintaining overall accountability for the results.

External Customer Engagement

  • Primary Ecosystem Contact: Serve as the high-level, trusted point of contact for Healthcare Professionals (HCPs), Therapeutic Area Experts (TAEs), and Patient Advocacy Groups (PAGs).

  • Co-Creation of Value: Partner deeply with stakeholders to identify shared purposes and remove roadblocks in the patient journey.

  • System Thinking: Bring the outside-in by gathering deep market insights to inform Roche's internal strategies and innovation pipeline.

  • Customer Experience: Ensure a seamless, high-quality experience for all partners whenever they engage with Roche's people, products, or services.

Who You Are:

Mindset & Behaviors (VACC)

  • Visionary: Ability to define and embed a clear strategy for transforming patient journeys and achieving commercial success.

  • Architect & Catalyst: Design the ecosystem approach and catalyze change by leveraging internal and external networks.

  • Entrepreneurial Growth Mindset: Demonstrate the courage to take risks, learn and unlearn quickly, and act boldly on key opportunities.

  • Enterprise Thinking: Think beyond local boundaries to bring the best possible outcomes to the local environment and Roche globally.

Experiences, Knowledge, and Qualifications

  • Proven Leadership: Extensive experience leading cross-functional teams and formulating complex strategies in a healthcare environment.

  • Commercial Expertise: Strong track record in commercialization and customer experience excellence.

  • Agile Practicality: Deep, practical experience in agile methodologies with a focus on outcomes rather than activities.

  • Scientific Knowledge: Deep understanding of the specific therapeutic area and patient journey, enabling engagement with specialists at a high clinical level.

  • Education: University degree in Science, Economics, or Business an MBA or advanced Life Science degree is highly preferred.
