Part time Retail Assistant (Mon to Wed)

Job Overview

As a Retail Assistant, you will be the face of East Ocean Aquatic Trading Centre. Your goal is to provide excellent technical advice to hobbyists, maintain the health of our livestock, and ensure the shop and warehouse operate smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

1. Customer Service & Sales

• Greet customers and provide expert advice on fish species, aquatic plants, and equipment (filters, lighting, CO2 systems).

• Assist customers in selecting compatible livestock for their home setups.

• Process transactions accurately using the POS system.

• Handle customer inquiries via phone or walk-in regarding stock availability.

2. Livestock Care & Maintenance

• Perform daily feeding schedules for various fish and invertebrates.

• Conduct routine water changes and monitor water parameters (pH, Ammonia, Nitrites).

• Monitor livestock health and report any signs of disease or stress to the manager.

• Maintain the cleanliness of display tanks (scraping algae, cleaning filters).

3. Inventory & Warehouse Support

• Receive and check incoming shipments of livestock and dry goods.

• Ensure shelves are well-stocked, priced correctly, and neatly organized.

• Keep the retail floor pathways clean and hazard-free.

Requirements

• Passion for Aquatics: Basic knowledge of freshwater or marine setups is highly preferred.

• Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy items (e.g., salt bags, water buckets, or aquariums) up to 20kg.

• Communication: Friendly, approachable, and able to explain technical info to beginners.

• Flexibility: Willingness to work weekends and public holidays (standard retail hours).

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in a pet shop or aquatic retail environment.

• Knowledge of aquascaping or specialized equipment maintenance.

. Work hours: 10am to 8pm/ 12pm to 8pm
