Origination - Singapore
Position purpose
The role supports the Origination team in developing and delivering commercial solutions across energy markets in APAC. Working alongside senior Originators and internal trading and pricing teams, the position contributes to relationship management, transaction structuring, pricing, and execution with market counterparties.
The role provides exposure to the origination lifecycle, including customer engagement, transaction analysis, and execution co-ordination. This involves supporting both physical and financial transactions through to execution readiness, and working with internal functions across credit, legal, risk, operations, and onboarding to ensure transactions are structured and executed in line with internal governance standards.
The position is expected to build commercial origination capability, including supporting lead generation, contributing to structured and longer-dated commercial arrangements, identifying cross-commodity opportunities, and helping develop durable counterparty relationships across energy markets.
Main responsibilities
Lead generation and development of potential counterparties through targeted outreach, networking, and market research activities. Build and maintain commercial relationships with new and existing counterparties. Development and evaluation of new commercial transactions and business initiatives across energy markets. Structuring, and execution of transactions, including preparation of decision-focused materials and transaction analysis covering commercial, structural, and downside risk considerations. Work closely with trading desks and internal support teams to support pricing, execution co-ordination, and efficient post-trade processes.
Coordinate meeting materials and follow-up summaries for prospective and existing counterparties, and support completion of onboarding and KYC-related requirements
Preparation of market and commercial communications and the development of presentations and analytical spreadsheets to support origination activity. Track live transactions, workflows, counterparty interactions, and follow-ups in a fast-moving commercial environment. This list is not exhaustive and may include other tasks assigned by the manager.
Experience required
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, related discipline or similar work experience 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in a bank, trading house, commodities firm, or professional services environment. Demonstrated interest in energy markets and origination-focused commercial roles. Exposure to commodities, derivatives, physical markets, or financial markets is an advantage. Ability to work effectively in team-based, cross-functional environments, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. Sound understanding of risk discipline, compliance, and governance standards in commercial activities. Motivated to learn, take responsibility, and contribute to shared team objectives in a performance-driven environment.
