Oracle Database Administrator

Role Overview

Contract Duration- 12 months

We are seeking an experienced Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) with strong hands-on expertise in Oracle 19c, Oracle RAC/rack-server environments, GoldenGate and Data Guard. The ideal candidate will have proven experience supporting database migrations from legacy hardware to new/upgraded hardware, including lift-and-shift migrations, while maintaining database availability, performance and integrity.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform Oracle database migrations from existing/legacy hardware to new or upgraded hardware, including lift-and-shift activities and end-to-end migration planning and execution.
• Support database migration projects involving RAC-server environments, including database setup, configuration, validation and cutover.
• Perform installation, configuration, upgrade and administration of Oracle Database 19c environments.
• Manage and maintain Oracle RAC and high-availability database environments.
• Design, configure and administer Oracle Data Guard for high availability and disaster recovery.
• Demonstrate strong hands-on expertise in Oracle GoldenGate, including configuration, replication management, monitoring, troubleshooting and performance optimisation.
• Perform RMAN backup and recovery activities, including backup strategy, recovery testing and database restoration.
• Conduct database health checks and performance optimisation/tuning, identifying and resolving database performance bottlenecks.
• Plan and execute migration activities including pre-migration assessment, data migration, validation, testing, cutover and post-migration support.
• Work closely with infrastructure/server teams during hardware refresh and database migration activities to ensure smooth transition to the new environment.
• Troubleshoot database, replication, performance and migration-related issues and provide timely resolution.
• Ensure database availability, integrity, security and performance throughout migration and post-migration operations.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, migration plans, runbooks and operational procedures.

Key Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience as an Oracle DBA, preferably in enterprise environments.
• Strong expertise in Oracle Database 19c.
• Proven experience migrating Oracle databases from old/legacy hardware to new hardware, including lift-and-shift migrations.
• Hands-on experience with RAC-server/database infrastructure and database setup on new hardware.
• Expert-level Oracle GoldenGate experience is required.
• Strong experience with Oracle Data Guard.
• Strong hands-on experience with RMAN backup and recovery.
• Proven experience in Oracle database performance tuning and optimisation.
• Experience managing production database environments and supporting critical migration/cutover activities.
• Candidates should have recent, hands-on experience with Oracle database migration and modern hardware refresh projects, rather than experience limited to traditional DBA administration.
