Optometrist

Job Description:

• Perform comprehensive eye examinations to detect vision defects, abnormalities, injuries, or eye diseases

• Operate diagnostic equipment (e.g. slit-lamp biomicroscope, fundus camera, optical coherence tomography, non-contact tonometer, Humphrey visual field analyser)

• Interpret and explain examination results to patients, providing professional advice and reassurance

• Recommend suitable optical aids based on clinical findings and patient needs

• Prepare referrals to ophthalmologists when conditions require further medical attention

• Instruct first-time contact lens wearers on proper handling and care

• Troubleshoot, adjust, and ensure proper fitting of spectacles and ophthalmic lenses

• Maintain accurate patient records, including eye health data and purchase history

• Manage inventory of contact lenses, trial lenses, and related solutions

• Ensure all equipment and measurement tools are properly maintained and in good working condition

• Supervise, mentor, and train junior Optometrists and Opticians

• Perform ad-hoc duties as assigned by the Branch Manager

Requirements:

• Minimum Diploma in Optometry from a recognised institution (e.g. Singapore Polytechnic, Ngee Ann Polytechnic)

• Eligible for provisional, conditional, or full registration with the Optometrists and Opticians Board (OOB)

• Prior retail experience is an advantage
