Job Summary:
CADFEM Singapore is looking for a Zemax Application Engineer to support customers in the application of optical design and simulation solutions. The role will involve providing technical consulting, application support, product demonstrations, training, and pre-sales support using Zemax OpticStudio and related optical engineering tools.
The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in optical engineering, photonics, or a related engineering discipline, along with hands-on experience in optical design and simulation.
Key Responsibilities:
o Provide technical support and application consulting for Zemax OpticStudio and related optical simulation solutions.
o Understand customer requirements and translate engineering challenges into appropriate simulation and optical design solutions.
o Conduct product demonstrations, technical presentations, workshops, and customer training on Zemax.
o Support the sales team during technical pre-sales activities, including requirement analysis, solution proposals, demonstrations, and technical discussions.
o Develop application examples, technical content, tutorials, and use cases to demonstrate the capabilities of Zemax.
o Assist customers with optical modelling, including imaging systems, illumination systems, stray light, tolerancing, optimization, and system performance analysis.
o Work closely with customers to troubleshoot simulation and modelling challenges and recommend suitable approaches.
o Collaborate with internal and regional CADFEM teams to share technical knowledge and develop customer solutions.
o Support seminars, webinars, technical events, and customer engagement activities.
o Keep up to date with developments in optical design, photonics, simulation technologies, and Zemax software.
Education:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Optical Engineering, Optics & Photonics, Physics, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Experience:
o Fresh graduates are welcome to apply. Candidates with 1 year of relevant experience in optical design, simulation, photonics, or application engineering will also be considered.
o Strong knowledge in Zemax OpticStudio is an advantage.
o Experience in a customer-facing, application engineering, technical support, consulting, or pre-sales role is considered.
Technical Requirements:
o Strong understanding of geometrical optics, physical optics, optical system design, and optical engineering principles.
o Knowledge in areas such as:
Optical system design and optimization
Lens design
Illumination & imaging systems
Stray light analysis
Tolerance analysis
MTF and optical performance analysis
Non-sequential optical modelling
o Familiarity with other optical design/simulation tools such as CODE V, LightTools, ASAP, TracePro, or MATLAB/Python will be an advantage.
o Ability to understand and explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
