Job Description

We are seeking an Operations Supervisor for our client in the chemical manufacturing industry to take charge of ensuring the safe, efficient, and smooth execution of all plant operations and daily activities. He/she will champion operational excellence while ensuring compliance with health, safety and environmental standards.

Responsibilities:

Leadership & Operations

  • Lead investigations, troubleshoot incidents, and resolve abnormal observations
  • Act as Site Main Controller (SMC) during after-hours emergencies
  • Direct team in process control, recovery, and emergency response
  • Oversee inventory management and ensure reduction in ship-to-shore variance
  • Coordinate permit-to-work activities and inspections
  • Support commissioning during industrial plant turnarounds and planned maintenance
  • Manage manpower planning, workflow scheduling, and communication between departments
  • Lead effective shift briefings and communicate key objectives to the team

Safety & Compliance

  • Drive compliance with VF, HSEQ, and regulatory requirements for both internal teams and contractors
  • Serve as a trained PFSO (Port Facility Security Officer), Working-at-Height Supervisor, and Permit-to-Work Approver
  • Ensure readiness for customer, ISO, THA, and safety audits
  • Uphold company standards and local legislation

Customer & Stakeholder Management

  • Build strong relationships with internal and external customers
  • Address enquiries, concerns, and complaints promptly
  • Deliver on customer requirements and expectations in a timely manner

People Development

  • Mentor, coach, and train team members to enhance operational competency
  • Conduct performance reviews, appraisals, and JCP assessments, closing any competency gaps
  • Lead talent and succession planning initiatives
  • Promote a positive and adaptable team culture
  • Supervise and develop both technicians and contractors

Continuous Improvement

  • Initiate and lead improvement programs in plant operations
  • Support new projects and contractor management
  • Contribute as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) trainer under the ACE program

Requirements

  • Degree/Diploma in Chemical Process Technology
  • At least 5 years of relevant operations experience in a chemical industry with 3 years in a supervisory role
  • Strong practical knowledge of site processes and operations.
  • Deep understanding of product handling, operational equipment, and safety management practices.
  • Solid expertise in Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) standards and regulatory compliance.
  • Familiarity with relevant legislation, industry codes, and best practices in operational safety.
  • Trained or certified in relevant operational roles (e.g., Port Facility Security Officer, Working at Heights Supervisor, Permit-to-Work approver).
