Job Summary
Lead freight forwarding operations by managing air and sea freight processes, customs declarations, and team performance to drive revenue growth and operational excellence in compliance with regulations.
Responsibilities
- Apply extensive professional knowledge to manage air and sea freight operations efficiently
- Execute customs declarations including all types of permit declarations to ensure regulatory compliance
- Handle customs matters promptly to facilitate smooth import/export processes
- Build and maintain sales pipelines and long-term customer relationships to foster revenue growth
- Monitor customer satisfaction and relevant KPIs to identify discrepancies and implement corrective actions
- Cultivate and negotiate terms with regional and global partners while evaluating local providers for compliance
- Achieve operational and financial targets by leading and managing the team effectively
- Manage staff schedules, assign duties, and ensure compliance with company policies, local regulations, and laws
- Determine staffing needs, train new employees, and collaborate with HR to interview and hire new staff
- Review sales activity reports and performance data to measure productivity and implement cost reduction and program improvements
- Analyze operational gaps and define actionable plans to enhance processes and outcomes
- Demonstrate superior negotiation, planning, organizational, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
- Exhibit strong leadership, networking, and communication skills to drive team and business success
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- At least 5 years of work experience in the freight forwarding industry
- At least 3-5 years of experience in a managerial position
- Excellent understanding of local and international shipping regulations, customs procedures, and import/export documentation
