Operations Executive

The Wholesale Banknotes Dealer is responsible for the buying, selling, and management of foreign currency banknotes in wholesale volumes. The role focuses on rate setting, inventory management, liquidity planning, and execution of banknote trades with counterparties while ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal control requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Trading & Dealing

Execute wholesale banknote trades (buy/sell) with banks, financial institutions, and approved counterparties

Monitor FX market movements and adjust banknote rates accordingly

Quote competitive wholesale rates to support retail, and corporate, operations

Manage spreads to optimize profitability while maintaining market competitiveness

• Inventory & Liquidity Management

Manage foreign currency banknote inventory levels to ensure adequate liquidity

Monitor currency stock aging, condition, and circulation demand

Coordinate banknote ordering, replenishment, and returns with vaults and banks

Minimize holding risk and exposure through prudent inventory planning

• Risk Management

Monitor FX exposure and ensure positions remain within approved limits

Escalate abnormal market movements or liquidity risks to management

Comply with internal dealing limits, stop-loss thresholds, and approval matrices

• Compliance & Controls

Adhere to MAS regulations, AML/CFT requirements, and internal policies

Ensure all trades are properly recorded, authorized, and supported by documentation

Work closely with Compliance on transaction monitoring and audits

Avoid conflicts of interest and unauthorized trading activities

• Operational Coordination

Liaise with operations, vault, logistics, and finance teams for smooth settlement

Ensure timely confirmation, settlement, and reconciliation of trades

Support rate dissemination to branches, kiosks, and digital platforms

• Reporting & Documentation

Prepare daily position reports, P&L summaries, and inventory reports

Maintain accurate trading records for audit and regulatory review

Provide management with market updates and trading insights

Key Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Finance, Banking, Business, or related field

• Minimum 2-5 years of experience in FX banknotes trading, money changing, or treasury operations

• Strong understanding of wholesale banknotes markets and FX pricing

• Strong numerical and analytical skills

• Good market awareness and decision-making ability

• High integrity and strong risk awareness
• Ability to work under pressure in fast-moving market conditions

• Proficiency in trading systems, spreadsheets, and reporting tools
