Brief Introduction of Department and Role of the Team
The National University Cancer Institute, Singapore (NCIS) is a national specialist centre providing comprehensive cancer care for patients across Singapore. The Service Transformation team focuses on enhancing patient experience, improving service quality, and driving operational efficiency across the patient journey.
The team works closely with frontline staff, patients, and various healthcare stakeholders to identify service improvement opportunities, analyse patient feedback, and implement initiatives that strengthen patient-centred care and operational excellence.
Job Scope and Key Responsibilities
The intern will play a key role in supporting patient experience and service improvement efforts within NCIS. The role combines frontline patient engagement with service analysis and process improvement activities.
Patient Service & Support
- Serve as a service ambassador at key patient touchpoints including self-service kiosks, health and wellness stations, and triage areas during peak operational periods.
- Guide and assist patients in navigating NCIS services and facilities.
- Support smooth patient flow and address immediate service-related concerns.
- Communicate professionally and empathetically with patients and their families, particularly in high-stress situations.
Service Analysis & Improvement
- Collect, analyse, and categorise patient feedback from various channels to identify recurring themes and improvement opportunities.
- Monitor inpatient and outpatient patient experience feedback to support service quality oversight.
- Develop insights and recommendations for service enhancement based on patient feedback and operational observations.
- Support ongoing service improvement and patient experience initiatives within the department.
Requirements:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
