Senior / Nurse Clinician, Operating Theatre
The Senior Nurse Clinician provides clinical leadership to the patient care team to achieve the highest standards in clinical, operational, financial and service quality.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate clinical competency in scrubbing complex invasive procedures and providing support for anaesthesia and endoscopy interventions.
- Provide clinical leadership by supervising nurses and ancillary staff, ensuring safe, high-quality perioperative patient care.
- Serve as a clinical resource for specialized nursing skills, providing guidance, consultation, and mentorship to staff.
- Plan and deploy appropriate staff mix and skill levels to achieve optimal patient care outcomes.
- Ensure nursing care is delivered in accordance with clinical guidelines, physician instructions, and hospital policies.
- Establish and implement structures, processes, and performance measures to support quality clinical practice and continuous improvement.
- Drive quality improvement initiatives, investigate incidents and feedback, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure compliance with hospital licensing, QMS, ISO standards, and accurate, timely clinical documentation.
- Support staff development through orientation, performance management, training, and professional education programmes.
- Coordinate emergency situations and report clinical incidents to senior management as required.
- Assist in resource and budget planning, ensuring efficient and cost-effective utilisation of manpower, supplies, and equipment.
- Promote teamwork and effective collaboration with inter-professional teams to achieve organisational and patient care goals.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing with Bachelor of Nursing preferred.
- State Registered Nurse and practicing license issued by the Singapore Nursing Board.
- Post-basic Certificate/ Diploma or related experience in specialized clinical area.
- At least 7 years post-registration experience, including working in a supervisory capacity.
- Valid Certification in Basic Life Support (BCLS) preferred.
