The Occupational Therapist will be responsible for providing quality occupational therapy services to patients across inpatient, outpatient, and home care settings. Working under supervision, the therapist will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate treatment programs to help clients achieve greater independence and improve their quality of life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct occupational therapy assessments and develop individualized treatment plans under supervision.
- Manage assigned caseloads across inpatient, outpatient, and home-based settings.
- Perform initial assessments, reassessments, treatment reviews, and discharge planning.
- Implement evidence-based interventions and monitor patient progress.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation, treatment records, incident reports, and patient notes.
- Participate in case conferences, multidisciplinary meetings, and family discussions as required.
- Educate and train patients, family members, and caregivers to support rehabilitation goals.
- Ensure patient safety during therapy sessions and comply with clinical guidelines and best practices.
- Maintain and monitor therapy equipment, reporting defects or incidents when necessary.
- Assist with daily billing, caseload coordination, and administrative duties.
- Support health promotion, community outreach, and patient engagement activities.
- Participate in continuing professional development (CPD), in-service training, and knowledge-sharing sessions.
- Assist in collecting and maintaining departmental statistics and reports.
- Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and teamwork in daily operations.
- Support business development initiatives, referral awareness, and patient engagement programs.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's, Master's, or Diploma in Occupational Therapy recognised by the Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC).
- Fully registered with AHPC and holding a valid practising certificate.
- BCLS + AED certification.
- Minimum 1-2 years of relevant occupational therapy experience in a hospital, nursing home, rehabilitation, or healthcare setting.
- Community care, home care, or aged care experience would be advantageous.
- Strong assessment, treatment planning, and patient management skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with patients and caregivers.
- Ability to think critically and adapt treatment approaches to meet individual patient needs.
- Able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Interest in geriatric rehabilitation and elderly care would be beneficial.
- Comfortable travelling to patients homes when required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and general computer systems.
